Butter - Who knew they could be so different

Today I took a little walk through Trader Joes and something caught my eye that brought back some yummy memories - Irish Butter.    Today I am going to compare American Butter (Land o Lakes), Cultured Butter (Vermont Butter & Cheese Company, French Butter (President) and Irish Butter (Kerrygold)

Land O Lakes® Unsalted Butter is the all-purpose butter that is great for everyday use in baking, cooking and topping. With no added salt, you get the pure, sweet cream taste you love, and can control the flavor in all your favorite dishes. This is most popular butter used by chefs all over the US.  It is very versatile and works well in most recipes.

Vermont Butter & Cheese uses local, hormone-free cream to churn this super-high-fat butter flecked with crunchy sea salt. You’ll never look at butter the same way again.  If you ever see this butter available at one of the gourmet grocery stores you owe it to yourself to buy it and try it.  It melts in your mouth.

Imported. First quality. Untearable foil. From the heart of Normandy. What gives president butter its full nutty flavor, creamy texture and gold yellow color, making it a must among high quality imported butter? President butter is made in the Normandy region of France. This region is considered as the Grand Cru among French and other European dairy regions, thanks to its oceanic climate and rich grass. The other reason: natural lactic ferments are added to the cream before churning, which enhances the natural flavor of butter. Enjoy President butter on bread or with fresh radish, melted on cooked vegetables or pastas. It is also perfect in pastries, sauces and all sorts of baked and cooked recipes. Made from pasteurized cow's milk. Product of France.

Kerrygold Salted butter is a premium butter, produced to the highest standards. It is a completely natural product, free from artificial colourings and flavourings. The uniquely golden colour of Kerrygold butter occurs naturally as a result of beta carotene in fresh grass and gives a distinct flavour to the butter.  This is the butter I saw at Trader Joes today.  If you get a chance, I suggest you try it.
